1,986m ASLRaw, remote, and seriously rewarding
This is winter alpine trekking in its purest form. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll summit Mt. Bogong (1,986m) – Victoria’s highest peak – while carrying a full winter pack, navigating steep terrain, and moving through deep snow on snowshoes. It’s an unfiltered mountain challenge that pushes you physically and mentally – balanced by an epic sense of achievement, a tight-knit crew, and the serene beauty of the Victorian Alps in winter.
The expedition begins with a steep, snow-covered ascent into the Bogong High Plains. You’ll climb through snowgum forest, break out above the tree line, and push toward the summit along exposed alpine ridgelines. At elevation, we establish camp in the snow – learning winter-specific backcountry skills and embracing the rawness of high mountain living. After the descent, we transition into recovery mode - hot showers, hearty food, and deep rest at a luxury lodge in Bright.
Activity Grade: HIGH
This is a physically demanding winter trek that requires strong baseline fitness, mental resilience, and the ability to carry a 17-20kg pack through snow-covered, uneven terrain. You’ll snowshoe for 5–9 hours per day, ascend steep inclines, and sleep in sub-zero conditions at elevation. No technical climbing skills are required – but you must be comfortable with discomfort, and ready to lean into the challenge.
The rewards are immense: wild terrain, summit moments, alpine knowledge, and a major personal milestone. All gear, group support, and guidance are provided – along with an 8-week structured training program to get you mountain ready. This is the ideal trip for those wanting to test themselves, experience snow camping, and gain skills that transfer to bigger alpine goals – all while finishing with a well-earned touch of comfort and celebration.

“Challenging, steep, and stunning. Carrying a full pack up Victoria’s highest peak was a real test, but the summit sunrise made it all worth it. I learnt so much from the prep training and the trek. Brilliant experience!”
Mike N

“This was no ordinary trek - it was alpine immersion. Camping on a mountain, heavy packs, and a real physical challenge. I felt unstoppable by the end. There is now way I would have been able to do it without the build-up training and being part of a team.”
Amanda R

"Being able to do the trek with people who you'd met and trained with before you went away was a fantastic thing. There was such an amazing connection and comradery within our group particularly."
